Azimuth VTA Protractor Ultra Clear and Friendly

The Azimuth VTA Protractor is a simple yet essential tool designed to help audiophiles achieve the correct vertical tracking angle (VTA) of their stylus tip relative to the grooves of their vinyl records. Ideally, the stylus should maintain a perfect 90-degree angle, ensuring that it moves perpendicularly between the groove walls. With precise azimuth alignment, the stylus tip makes equal contact on both sides of the groove, leading to an even distribution of needle pressure. This not only enhances sound quality but also prevents unnecessary wear on both your vinyl records and stylus.

A properly set azimuth greatly improves channel balance, minimizes distortion, and significantly enhances the overall listening experience. Achieving optimal azimuth ensures superior sound reproduction and longevity of your valuable audio equipment.

    Features

    • Precise Azimuth Adjustment: Ensures equal stylus contact with groove walls, optimizing sound quality and minimizing wear.

    • Improved Channel Separation: Reduces crosstalk, providing a clearer and more defined stereo image.

    • Prevents Record and Stylus Wear: Even pressure distribution increases the lifespan of both vinyl records and stylus.

    • Easy to Use: A straightforward design that allows for quick and accurate setup.

    • Compact and Lightweight: Portable design makes it convenient to carry and store.

    • Enhanced Listening Experience: Achieves balanced sound reproduction with reduced distortion and improved fidelity.

    Specifications

    What is Azimuth?

Azimuth is the horizontal alignment of the cartridge, determining how the stylus sits in the record groove. When perfectly perpendicular, it ensures proper stylus contact. Due to manufacturing variances, visual alignment alone may not be enough. Incorrect azimuth can cause channel leakage (crosstalk), affecting sound quality. Proper alignment reduces distortion for an optimal listening experience.

What is Vertical Tracking Alignment (VTA)?

VTA is crucial for proper playback and is determined by the angle at which the record grooves were originally cut. Records are cut at an angle of 20 degrees, and to achieve perfect reproduction, the stylus must read the grooves at the same angle.

To set the right VTA, it is recommended to align the tonearm horizontally using our protractor and fine-tune the setup by listening to well-defined bass frequencies. Adjusting the VTA enhances clarity, depth, and balance of the sound. However, due to varying record thicknesses, achieving a universally perfect VTA is challenging. It is advisable to adjust using a record of average thickness that represents your collection.

With the Azimuth VTA Protractor, you can fine-tune your turntable setup for an unparalleled listening experience.
